
The University welcomed 3,515 first-year students this fall, the largest entering class in school history.
Here’s a snapshot of the Class of 2017, by the numbers:
- 23 posted perfect scores on the math and verbal portions of the SAT
- 1,349 points—mean verbal and math scores on a 1,600-point scale
- 92 percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class
- 28 percent are minority students
- 44 states and 72 countries are represented
- 6 percent of the class is international
- 56 percent are female
- Additionally, 675 students will transfer into the undergraduate student body, including 350 from the Virginia Community College System
