Gregory W. Shawver (Med ’02) of Ivanhoe, Virginia, died July 29, 2015. He was a physician at Forest Family Care in Wytheville, Virginia, and previously practiced at Carilion Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg, Virginia; Augusta Health Primary Care in Fishersville, Virginia; and at WellSpan Hayshire Family Medicine in York, Pennsylvania. He loved exploring the outdoors with his dog and finding new sources of beauty in the world. A generous and devoted son, brother and uncle, Dr. Shawver loved spending time with his family and was especially adored by his nieces and nephews. Survivors include his parents, a sister, a brother, and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Cresap “M.C.” Szarwark (Col ’07) of Boynton Beach, Florida, died Oct. 10, 2015. At the University, she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority and the Academic Competition Club. Ms. Szarwark had recently received a master’s degree in counseling and worked in human resources while also working toward licensure as a therapist. She volunteered for various service organizations throughout her life and was historian chair for the Junior League of the Palm Beaches, having been voted outstanding provisional in her class. She read widely and enjoyed outdoor activities such as bicycling, swimming and walking on the beach with her dog. Ms. Szarwark also wrote a blog, Your Best Self Starts Here. Survivors include her parents and a sister.
