Kathryn “Katie” Garrett (Col ’05 CM) of Washington, D.C., died Aug. 20, 2025. At UVA, she majored in art history and foreign affairs. Soon after graduation, she started working at David M. Schwarz Architects in the D.C. area, where she made her mark on the company by co-founding Gingertown, a charitable fundraising event that brings architects together to build an elaborate gingerbread city out of sweets. She had a successful career in marketing and customer relations, culminating in her becoming the vice president of marketing for Earth Resources Technology (ERT), a contractor for federal government agencies. She was a passionate sports fan, cheering on the Virginia Cavaliers, the Washington Commanders and the Washington Nationals.
