Jon Andrew Dyck (Col ’92 CM) of Austin, Texas, died Nov. 18, 2024. After studying government and foreign affairs at UVA, he spent a gap year in the Czech Republic editing the English language edition of a local newspaper. He received his law degree from the University of Texas and began his legal career as a lawyer at Baker Botts in Washington, D.C. He served as chief counsel of the Bureau of Export Administration and vice president and general counsel of the Millennium Challenge Corp. during the George W. Bush administration. He also served on the board of directors for UVA’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy. He was a competitive swimmer and rower, a cellist and pianist, and an enthusiastic home chef. He had recently completed a novel. Survivors include his parents, Walter and Lana; three children; three siblings; and seven nieces and nephews.Forrest “Jake” Williams Jr. (Col class of ’94) of Dallas died May 6, 2025. While studying economics at UVA, he was a key member of the track and field team, once holding the school’s pole vault record. Today, his highest vault stands at No. 10 in UVA history. His loyalty to UVA sports never wavered, and he cheered on the football team every year. After college, he jumped into the world of finance, starting out as an analyst at Dillon Read and UBS. His career took him from Dallas to New York, Miami and back to Dallas, where he co-founded Catalyst Holdings, a private equity firm. Beyond his professional achievements, he was best known for his infectious sense of humor and his talent for forging lasting friendships. Survivors include his wife, his mother, three siblings, and several nieces and nephews.
