Maria C. Milian-Silveira (Grad '80 L/M) of Richmond, Va., died April 3, 2011. In 1964, she joined the faculty of Longwood College, where she taught for almost three decades. While at Longwood, she was adviser of Alpha Phi sorority and founding member of Sigma Delta Pi and was the recipient of the Maria Bristow Starke Faculty Excellence Award. Dr. Silveira was also a visiting professor of foreign languages at Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Virginia. Her numerous awards and honors included being named Foreign Language Association of Virginia Teacher of the Year and being nominated for the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese national Outstanding Teacher Award. She was also member and past president of the Woman's Club and the Ruth Adams Garden Club in Farmville.

Jeffrey E. Bugenhagen (Col '82 L/M) of Rockville, Md., died Feb. 22, 2012. He worked for Citibank and more recently for the Bank of New York Mellon in New Jersey.

Timothy B. Gilbert (Col '83, Med '87 L/M) of Severna Park, Md., died Feb. 9, 2012. Dr. Gilbert served as director of cardiothoracic anesthesia at the University of Maryland Medical School. As a teen, he served as a volunteer firefighter. Throughout his life, he had a passion for teaching and learning, music and helping people. He also enjoyed cooking and home improvement.

David R. Morgan (Col '84) of Oakland, Calif., died March 28, 2012. At the University, he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After graduation, he moved to Oakland to pursue his passion in music. There he recorded numerous records as a percussionist. Mr. Morgan was also a paralegal, specializing in construction contract law.

Andrea P. Taylor (Col '89) of Arlington, Va., died March 11, 2012. She was employed as the deputy branch chief of the Office of Defender Services Training Branch, part of the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts. Ms. Taylor was a fellow of the American Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section Council.
