Mortarboard messages stand out from the crowds

During Final Exercises, graduates stream down the Lawn in an exuberant sea of color. Every piece of regalia carries meaning, but the most personalized messages of all adorn the simple black mortarboards. Each year, many UVA students transform their personal canvas into a declaration of nostalgia or humor, triumph or gratitude. Enjoy a few of our recent favorites.
