When Ryan Hammons was 4 years old, he began directing imaginary movies. Shouts of “Action!” often echoed from his room.
But the play became a concern for Ryan’s parents when he began waking up in the middle of the night screaming and clutching his chest, saying he dreamed his heart exploded when he was in Hollywood. His mother, Cyndi, asked his doctor about the episodes. Night terrors, the doctor said. He’ll outgrow them. Then one night, as Cyndi tucked Ryan into bed, Ryan suddenly took hold of Cyndi’s hand.
“Mama,” he said. “I think I used to be someone else.”
He said he remembered a big white house and a swimming pool. It was in Hollywood, many miles from his Oklahoma home. He said he had three sons, but that he couldn’t remember their names. He began to cry, asking Cyndi over and over why he couldn’t remember their names.
“I really didn’t know what to do,” Cyndi said. “I was more in shock than anything. He was so insistent about it. After that night, he kept talking about it, kept getting upset about not being able to remember those names. I started researching the Internet about reincarnation. I even got some books from the library on Hollywood, thinking their pictures might help him. I didn’t tell anyone for months.”
One day, as Ryan and Cyndi paged through one of the Hollywood books, Ryan stopped at a black-and-white still taken from a 1930s movie, Night After Night. Two men in the center of the picture were confronting one another. Four other men surrounded them. Cyndi didn’t recognize any of the faces, but Ryan pointed to one of the men in the middle.
“Hey Mama,” he said. “That’s George. We did a picture together.” His finger then shot over to a man on the right, wearing an overcoat and a scowl. “That guy’s me. I found me!”
Ryan’s claims, while rare, are not unique among the more than 2,500 case files sitting inside the offices of Jim B. Tucker (Res ’89), an associate psychiatry professor at the UVA Medical Center’s Division of Perceptual Studies.
For nearly 15 years, Tucker has been investigating claims made by children, usually between the ages of 2 and 6 years old, who say they’ve had past lives. The children are sometimes able to provide enough detail about those lives that their stories can be traced back to an actual person—rarely famous and often entirely unknown to the family—who died years before.
Tucker, one of the only scientists in the world studying the phenomenon, says the strength of the cases he encounters varies. Some can be easily discounted, for instance, when it becomes clear that a child’s innocuous statements come within a family that desperately misses a loved one.
But in a number of the cases, like Ryan’s, Tucker says the most logical, scientific explanation for a claim is as simple as it is astounding: Somehow, the child recalls memories from another life.
“I understand the leap it takes to conclude there is something beyond what we can see and touch,” says Tucker, who served as medical director of the University’s Child and Family Psychiatry Clinic for nearly a decade. “But there is this evidence here that needs to be accounted for, and when we look at these cases carefully, some sort of carry-over of memories often makes the most sense.”
In his latest book, Return to Life, due out this month, Tucker details some of the more compelling American cases he’s researched and outlines his argument that discoveries within quantum mechanics, the mind-bending science of how nature’s smallest particles behave, provide clues to reincarnation’s existence.
“Quantum physics indicates that our physical world may grow out of our consciousness,” Tucker says. “That’s a view held not just by me, but by a number of physicists as well.”
Little Controversy
While his work might be expected to garner fierce debate within the scientific community, Tucker’s research, based in part on the cases accumulated all over the world by his predecessor, Ian Stevenson, who died in 2007, has caused little stir.
Michael Levin, director of the Center for Regenerative and Developmental Biology at Tufts University—who wrote in an academic review of Tucker’s first book that it presented a “first-rate piece of research”—said that’s because current scientific research models have no way to prove or debunk Tucker’s findings.
“When you fish with a net with a certain size of holes, you will never catch any fish smaller than those holes,” Levin says. “What you find is limited by how you are searching for it. Our current methods and concepts have no way of dealing with these data.”
Tucker, whose research is funded entirely by an endowment, began his reincarnation research in the late 1990s, after he read an article in the Charlottesville Daily Progress about Stevenson’s office winning a grant to study the effects of near-death experiences.
“I was curious about the idea of life after death and whether the scientific method could be used to study it,” Tucker says.
He began volunteering within Stevenson’s department and after a few years found himself a permanent researcher in the office, where his duties included overseeing the electronic coding of Stevenson’s reincarnation cases.
That coding took years—Stevenson’s handwritten case files reached back to 1961—but Tucker said the work is yielding intriguing insights.
Roughly 70 percent of the children say they died violent or unexpected deaths in their previous life. Males account for close to three-quarters of those deaths—almost precisely the same ratio of males who die of unnatural causes in the general population.
More cases are reported in countries where reincarnation is part of the religious culture, but Tucker says there is no correlation between how strong a case is deemed and that family’s beliefs in reincarnation.
One out of five children who report a past life say they recall the intermission, the time between death and birth, although there is no consistent view of what that’s like. Some allege they were in “God’s house,” while others claim they waited near where they died before "going inside” their mother.
In cases where a child’s story has been traced to another individual, the median time between the death of that person and the child’s birth is about 16 months.
Further research by Tucker and others has shown the children generally have above-average IQs and do not possess any mental or emotional disorders beyond average groups of children. None appears to have been dissociating from painful family situations.
Nearly 20 percent of the children studied have scarlike birthmarks or even unusual deformities that closely match marks or injuries the person whose life the child recalls received at or near his or her death.
Most children’s claims generally subside around age 6, coinciding roughly with what Tucker says is the time children’s brains ready themselves for a new stage of development.
Despite the otherworldly nature of their stories, almost none of the children exhibit any signs of being particularly enlightened, Tucker says.
“My impression of the children is that while a few make philosophical statements about life, most are just typical kids,” he says. “It might be a situation similar to not being any smarter on the first day of first grade than you were on the last day of kindergarten.”
Other Explanations
Raised as a Southern Baptist in North Carolina, Tucker has weighed other, more earthly, explanations to the phenomenon.
He’s looked at fraud, perhaps for financial gain or fame. But most claims usually don’t net a movie deal, and many of the families Tucker’s met, particularly in the West, are reluctant to speak publicly about their child’s unusual behavior. Tucker has also considered simple childhood fantasy play, but that doesn’t explain how the details children offer can sometimes lead back to a particular individual. “It defies logic that it would just be a coincidence,” he says.
Faulty memories of witnesses are likely present in many cases, Tucker says, but there are dozens of instances where people made notes of what the children were saying almost from the beginning.
“None of those possibilities would also explain some of the other patterns, like the intense emotional attachment many children have to these memories, as Ryan exhibited,” Tucker says.
Tucker believes the relatively small number of claims he and Stevenson collected during the last five decades, especially from America, is partly because parents may dismiss or misunderstand what their children are telling them. “If children get a message that they aren’t being listened to, they will stop talking,” Tucker says. “They see they aren’t supported. Most kids aim to please their parents.”
How exactly the consciousness, or at least memories, of one person might transfer to another is obviously a mystery, but Tucker believes the answers might be found within the foundations of quantum physics.
Scientists have long known that matter like electrons and protons produces events only when observed.
A simplified example: Take light and shine it through a screen with two slits cut in it. Behind the screen, put a photographic plate that records the light. When the light is unobserved as it travels, the plate shows it went through both slits. But what happens when the light is observed? The plate shows the particles go through just one of the slits. The light’s behavior changes, and the only difference is that it is being observed. There’s plenty of debate on what that might mean. But Tucker, like Max Planck, the father of quantum physics, believes that discovery shows that the physical world is affected by, and even derived from the non-physical, from consciousness.
If that’s true, then consciousness doesn’t require a three-pound brain to exist, Tucker says, and so there’s no reason to think that consciousness would end with it.
“It’s conceivable that in some way consciousness could be expressed in a new life,” Tucker says.
Robert Pollock, director of the Center for the Study of Science and Religion at Columbia University, said scientists have long pondered the role observation might play in the physical world, but the hypotheses about it are not necessarily scientific. “Debates among physicists that center on the clarity and beauty of an idea but not on its disprovability are common to my mind, but are not scientific debates at all,” says Pollock. “I think what Planck and others since who have looked at how these very small particles behave, and then made inferences about consciousness, are expressing a hope. That’s fine; I hope they are right. But there’s no way to disprove the idea.”
Tucker says his hypothesis is based on more than just wishful thinking.
“It’s much more than a hope,” he says. “Having direct positive evidence for a theory can have value, even if negative evidence against it is not possible.”
Ryan’s Past Life
Cyndi Hammons wasn’t considering any of that when her preschool son was pointing himself out in a photo from more than 80 years ago. She wanted to know who that man was.
The book didn’t provide any names of the actors pictured, but Cyndi quickly confirmed that the man Ryan said was “George" in the photo was indeed a George—George Raft, an all but forgotten film star from the 1930s and 1940s. Still, she couldn’t identify the man Ryan said had been him.Cyndi wrote Tucker, whom she found through her online research, and included the photo. Eventually it ended up in the hands of a film archivist, who, after weeks of research, confirmed the scowling man’s name: Martin Martyn, an uncredited extra in the film.
Tucker hadn’t shared that discovery with the Hammons family when he traveled to their home a few weeks later. Instead, he laid out black-and-white photos of four women on the kitchen table. Three of them were random.
Tucker asked Ryan, “Do any of these mean anything to you?”
Ryan studied the pictures. He pointed to one. She looks familiar, he said.
It was Martin Martyn’s wife.
Not long afterward, Tucker and the Hammonses traveled to California to meet Martyn’s daughter, who’d been tracked down by researchers working with Tucker on a documentary. Tucker sat down with the woman before her meeting with Ryan. She’d been reluctant to help, but during her talk with Tucker, she confirmed dozens of facts Ryan had given about her father.
Ryan said he danced in New York. Martyn was a Broadway dancer. Ryan said he was also an “agent,” and that people where he worked had changed their names. Martyn worked for years at a well-known talent agency in Hollywood—where stage names are often created—after his dancing career ended.
Ryan said his old address had “Rock” in its name. Martyn lived at 825 North Roxbury Dr. in Beverly Hills. Ryan said he knew a man named Senator Five. Martyn’s daughter said she had a picture of her father with a Senator Ives, Irving Ives, of New York, who served in the U.S. Senate from 1947 to 1959.
And yes, Martin Martyn had three sons. The daughter of course knew their names.
The meeting later between Ryan and Martyn’s daughter didn’t go well. Ryan shook her hand then hid behind Cyndi for the rest of the time. Later he told his mother the woman’s “energy” had changed. Cyndi explained that people change when they grow up.
“I don’t want to go back [to Hollywood],” Ryan said. “I always want to keep this family.”
In the weeks that followed, Ryan spoke less about Hollywood. Tucker says that often happens when children meet the family of someone they claimed to have been. It seems to validate their memories, making them less intense.
“I think they see that no one is waiting for them in the past,” Tucker says. “Some of them get sad about it, but ultimately they accept it and they turn their attention more fully to the present. They get more involved in experiencing this life, which, of course, is what they should do.”

I have been reading Autobiography of a Yogi fully so many times. All the available books of YSS, including the Path, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and going deep. I had rated Parama hamsa Yogananda, second only to Jesus Christ. Himalayan Masters also I had read. Thank you very much. The recent “M” who is from my own state Kerala, I have read. Dear Dr. Mathew :
The Souls Spiritually more advanced will like to go to Casual world
and every soul has the opportunity to go to Causal world provided they
are fed up with Earthly living and earthly life. Astral karma include
doing sinful activities as a spirit(astral body) like haunting some
one, troubling, astral sex, etc. etc.,
Causal world is full of individual, highly highly divine souls who
get suffocated in the life of earth and astral world. I recommend
you all read the book
AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF YOGI, by Sri PARAMAHANSA YOGANANDA and also
HIMALAYAN MASTERS by Swami Rama etc., where you will have a deeper
insight about Spirituality, life after death and the Powers one gets
after a prolonged years of Spiritual Sadana. Yoganandaji’s book is
very very good and after reading one’s life will be changed and comes
to know this material world just as a ‘dream world’ of God.
with love, yours sincerely, rudrappa agadi.

According to Hindu and many other Yogis, mystics, we have actually three bodies, the Physical body, the Subtle(astral) body and the Causal Body. Astral body is nothing but Spirit and Causal body is nothing but Soul. After death, every one goes to astral world(Vaikunta called in Hinduism) and after finishing their Karma (universal law of action-cause-effect) of earthly Life, it stays there for some years and then the Soul leaves the astral body and goes to Causal World which is full of Souls. Here, majority of spirits, rather than doing the upward journey, come to the earthly life of this physical world, being attracted to attachments, desires and unfulfilled ambitions take again human life (depending upon their Karma) and this coming, going keeps happening. Those who leave the body at Will, thru deeper spirituality, go directly to the Causal world. Those who are fed up with this suffering, painful third dimension world of earth life, after finishing their Karma in Astral world, go to Causal world after finishing Astral Karma. I have met a person, who twenty years ago, saw an Astral(subtle) body which came with him for an hour. My own brother-in-law while traveling at Midnight in a car saw an Astral body crossing the road, which “stunned” him and then told his experience to me and later on I clarified him. Soul is nothing but a “spark of light” which modern scientists are calling “consciousness”. Now many paranormal associations/societies have seen, talked, recorded voices of Spirits in Haunted places and grave-yards and recorded many mis-chief doing spirits/apparitions. Spirits and Souls are made of Light and can move at the speed of Light and hence good/evil spirits can move and locate their ‘target’ as required by them. But they can be talked thru Mediums, who come to his body by leaving ‘ectoplasm’ a p.v.c.type substance emanating thru the mouth, ear, nose of the mediums. Now science knows about Spirit and seen many astral bodies but when they will find out Soul, is a question and is under the control of god or so. The “Lifetrons"join the sperm and ovum joins “Lifetrons” in the sperm n ovum whereas the Soul comes thru the very very small passage called “Pans Varolli” in the brain near medulla-oblangata. This is all I have read and done brain storming about the soul, its entry into human womb etc., etc., Lifetrons who also move at the speed of light, are not yet invented by Science and its younger brother “Thoughtrons” will be invented by science by the year 4040 AD.

Pure soul is inconceivable. In 3D, it can manifest only in the body, as SELF.

Ref-Anirudh Kumar Satsangi on 03/12/2017
The constitution and nature of soul cannot be easily conceived as it belong to more different dimensions than the physical world. Our concept is maximum 4 D and as per the latest theory maximum of , 11 ( N=8, Supergravity ). How can we comprehend taste in the faculty of sound,or vice verse; smell by kinesthetic and vice verse and so and so forth. Our normal senses five can no longer contain the infinite soul, which is totally different.
Pure energy cannot be manifested without objects. Similarly soul cannot manifest withoutbody, I think. Dr.Thomaskutty Mathew.
Anirudh Kumar Satsangi on 03/12/2017
There’s a need to know about constitution and nature of soul then only process of reincarnation can be understood precisely. I may deal this more elaborately in my next comment.
Dr.Thomaskutty Mathew on 03/10/2017
Parama hamsa Yogananda had given details of how a soul goes into a new body, formed by mating of similar status parents, in different YSs publications as well as unpublished The Path, by Donald Walters= Swami Kriyananda. My own PhD Guide, Dr.Sukla , had subtle particles, spiritrons in his research thesis. Dr.Thomaskutty Mathew.

My below comment, in last 2-3 lines, be read as follows : Even among Brahmins (priestly class people among Hindus), they lead a highly “karma” conscious life to have a life ‘free’ from troubles/accidents etc., and they do not even eat Egg also with a view that, egg contains a life of chicken. As I have seen/read, they are culturally, intellectually, spiritually at a very higher level and they have separate food (veg.,) systems as like Jews. But Jews are non-vegetarians and hence, I think that Brahmins are the most spiritual people in the world and there are many high ranking government Officers, scientists, among brahmins. Their ‘karmic conscious’ purpose is also to escape from the ‘cycle of birth n death’ and to attain emancipation/liberation.
rudrappa agadi on 03/10/2017
Going through the still more articles, books etc., to find a scientific clue for reincarnation, I recently came across one information in .Autobiography of Yogi of Sri.Paramahansa Yogananda’s book that LIFETRONS, a still not invented sub-atomic particle which goes out of our breadth at the time of death is the main material object that moves from one body to another according to the sins/karma committed by one individual in his entire life. Actually Lifetrons include life-force(prana), thoughtrons and also the sum of karma that individual has done in his life. Lifetrons are very minute, invisible sub-atomic particles which are “intelligent” when compared to other atoms like proton, electron etc., Sri.Yoganandaji has seen such Lifetrons during his superhuman meditations. Even among the Brahmins (priestly class people among HIndus) try to live a Karma free live by leading ascetic, highly spiritual life and they do not eat even egg also. Only science has to reply for this. // r m agadi //

To those who belief reincarnation is a comforting fantasy: it most certainly is not an easy way out. Recalling the pain experienced in past lives (imagine a life as a serf), the challenges that lie ahead (imagine life after the world has been totally transformed by global warming)—are both challenging to the point of terrifying. Conventional religions’ view of one long afterlife of reward (or pain) and atheists’ view of the extinction of consciousness are infinitely less discomfiting—childlike wish fulfillment even.

I agree Rudrappa Agadi (on 08/31/2016) Why hasn’t anyone hired one of these awesome mediums I read about. This is someone who wants to be contacted on the other side! There are mediums who are involved with the scientific studies. All on the Forever Family Foundation website have been tested. I do know of one in particular who is affiliated with UVA’s parapsychology dept. So what gives? May be there is no truth to an afterlife but only wishful thinking. I am sure Mr. Stevenson didn’t make the combination so hard that the message couldn’t get through. Again, I want to believe.

I greatly agree with Dr. Bapat. The questions of Rudrappa and Mathew are not very logical. Reincarnation is not a commonly observable phenomena. Although according to Hindu philosophy everyone reincarnates but very few of them are aware of it.
Negative sensation is beyond three dimension. During meditation our sensory consciousness is brought down to a threshold point at infinitely low level to enable us to perceive beyond three dimension.
Dr J D Bapat on 10/15/2016
Dr Mathew! Your observation that humankind can perceive only in three dimensions is correct. In fact, if I go back finding the origin of various objects in the universe, I end up at a point where I need to accept there is something that was never born, ever existent. Some call it God or Almighty. One thing is clear, the Almighty cannot be humankind. Hindu philosophy says, almighty stays in the human body in the form of atma (soul). It is indestructible and transmigrates from one body to another after the death. As of date, we only have some empirical evidence of reincarnation, which is subject to different interpretations. There is no proof that satisfies the scientific criteria. However, science is ever developing. I future, it may be possible to explain the empirical findings on scientific basis, in a cogent manner.
Dr.Thomaskutty Mathew on 10/15/2016
The observations of rudrappa agadi are very logical.
Why did Stevenson fail to contact from the astral world.?
I know a lot other persons like Prof. P.M.Chacko, who had asked 20 years back the same question. Now it it more than ten years since he (Prof.P.M.Chacko) died. If it were possible his soul would have definitely done it. So my personal conclusion is that either they are not allowed to communicate or by the design intricacies of human life (with soul embedded in ) it is not possible to communicate interworld ie Physical world to astral world and back.
There is an incident in Bible, Lazar vs the rich man, wherein the souls in hell or heaven are not allowed to send messages to their relatives or associates in the physical world. Believe it or not.
At any rate if at all there are incarnations, one life is not supposed to memorize the previous life’s memories.
Then the issue of the physical shape Father in Heaven. We cannot think of anybody without a shape. We can conceive only maxim 4 dimensions. If there is a God or Father in Heaven, he will definitely be having all the dimensions (at least 11 , as scientists now predict ) and human beings cannot perceive it. Please refer the Tao of Physics and Stephen Hawkings Works for a comprehension.
Again as per Paramahamsa Yoganada himself, only one part of Absolute Truth is manifested physically. So the question of God being personal and impersonal at the same time remain unsolved for us.

I have one interesting piece of information about dr.Ian stevenson. He was personally believing in reincarnation phenomena and he did express his desire to communicate after death. Nearly 40 years ago, the psychiatrist purchased a combination lock and set the code himself with a mnemonic device. He sequestered the lock in a file cabinet and placed it in the Division of Perceptual Studies. He reportedly told colleagues that after death, he would attempt to pass on the mnemonic device. Since Stevenson’s death in February 2007, the lock has not been opened.
Here, what conclusion we can arrive at. Whether through the Astral body(subtle body)he will be able to touch any object just like lock etc.Whereas, in the case of poltergists, evil spirits, we see them shaking any table, chair or any other items. In that case. Mr.Stevenson has to become a poltergist, etc., and try to pass on the mnemonic device. His non-opening the device after 9 years gives a doubt about his present existence. Whether he has come over all the karmic deeds to reincarnate again. This is the challenge he himself has put, but not yet materialized. In my opinion, if spirits, poltergists, were capable of touching the material objects, then lot of gold and other valuables would have vanished from its place. Totally, now it is left to the spirit of dr.stevenson to open the device to prove his existence after death and reincarnating later on. I have read some tantriks, yogis, who catch hold of an Astral body(subtle body), order to bring all the jewels etc., when that person touches them. This is beautifully explained in Sri.Yoganandaji’s autobiography under chapter Muslim Wonder Worker. Pls opine. //rudrappa agadi//

In hopes that I can contribute something anonymously to this topic, I offer the following.
Tho I am an aging adult now, I discovered in middle age that I appeared to be having a few brief experiences that seemed like some kind of past-life recall. Oddly enough, those experiences suggested a past-life issue in large part because of their strange connection to certain unforgettable dreams I had experienced as a small child.
That connection was dysphoria. Dreams that produced intense levels of sadness or happiness (before age 7, one at age 3) suddenly seemed to echo bizarre emotional reactions to what should have been fairly ordinary levels of emotion in common experiences. In my case, this was music—specific pieces written before my birth that triggered either acute sadness or intense happiness, along with bizarre mental imagery of scenes that had never actually occurred to me. (In analyzing those experiences I reconstructed an explanation that, even to me, appears to be nothing more than pure imagination.)
I do not believe in god, or in a soul, but my experience suggests to me that the identification of reincarnation with those phenomena is a highly limiting, religiously-based filter, on what might actually be explained by a range of phenomena that are as yet unclear.

About Reincarnation, what I want to reiterate is, the belief of Hindus is correct and science needs still lot of time to prove it. Actually, Hinduism itself is Science-proof through its higher Spirituality and Religion. Even now, Hindus believe that it is Lord Narayana who controls the Universe and Lord Ishwara, who is always in Meditative position, gives Energy to Lord Narayana to control the Universe with all its Galaxies. It takes science another ten thousand Years to believe that the Theory of Everything is God and by that time, many challenges to science like, Time Travel, Thoughtrons, deeper space probe, etc., will be known. As per my reading, the only phenomena that will remain Ever mysterious to science is: Atoms, Consciousness, Space and Time. I think, God is omniscient and some Atoms will still remain with him, by remaining mystery to science.Due to continuous atomic flux near God, scientists may be able to understand the external nature of God but cannot see him. It is only after every man’s death, that they can see the Father in Heaven. So, man keeps coming to this Physical World to fulfill his Ambitions/Desires which are more attractive than the attraction of after-death state.//r.m. agadi//

This is one of the most fascinating and important topics that anyone could ever research/study. What could be more important to us than our soul’s journey to enlightenment? But it’s also a massive undertaking and a daunting task for any individual, or team for that matter, to attempt to prove the unprovable and explain the unexplainable. Therefore anyone and everyone who has dedicated themselves to this service has my respect and admiration, regardless of outcomes.

In response to Dr. Hoss who on 12 August 2016 commented that ‘Dr. Jim Tucker published the results of his studies and then went quiet and has been completely absent form our exchanges etc……’,
and Dr. J D Bapat who also on 12 August 2016 ‘would like to know if Prof. Tucker has carried out any further studies on this interesting subject’,
I would like to say this:
When I got involved with this fascinating topic and made my first submission on 15 March 2016, I also wrote to Dr. Tucker about my thoughts. As I have no way of substantiating my views [which I have shared with you] and explaining the birthmarks and scars on some of the children tested, what I have submitted is, at best, mere conjecture. He graciously acknowledged my efforts in the following terms:
“Thanks for your comments. You provide a different perspective on these issues, one worth considering.”
No doubt he is evaluating comments from us and other sources and will in due course publish his findings.

Excellent expression of ideas. Greatest views I have read ever. Congrats Dutch Baker!
Dutch Baker on 08/13/2016
All of the greatest scientific discoveries of all time started out as wild theories and were deemed nonsensical and ridiculous by a multitude of detractors. In each and every case this criticism came from those that were of a lower intelligence level, and therefore incapable of understanding the concept/theory. Sometimes it’s easier on the ego to call the research and/or ideas of others nonsense or bullshit, instead of admitting that something is beyond our comprehension. But criticism and/or disbelief isn’t enough to disprove any theory. To assume something isn’t a possibility because it goes against “conventional understanding/knowledge” is a common response to anything that we don’t understand or can’t comprehend. Imagine the world we would live in now if Einstein had given up on his theories and research because others didn’t believe or couldn’t comprehend his work. That is what separates the greatest minds from the average minds, the knowledge that “ALL” things are possible.

Dear Dr. Hoss
Thanks for responding. But ‘incomplete sentence and an complete idea’ is confusing. What you want to know please elaborate. However, this was the first definition told by my teacher about 48 years ago. The sentence also seems complete. As I have already requested you please give your views about science if you have some different and novel idea about it. Otherwise accept my views gracefully.

Your definition of Science being: “science is the systematic knowledge” is an incomplete sentence and an complete idea. Please continue!
Anirudh Kumar Satsangi on 08/12/2016
Dear Dr. Hoss
I appreciate your quest for the definition of science. When I was student in class 9th in the year 1968-1969, my teacher told a definition of science: “science is the systematic knowledge”. One could find this definition in the books of science at that time. Now see - systematic knowledge=successive approximation= logical coherence (all these three have almost similar meaning). If you have some different view about definition of science kindly let us know so that we may broaden our knowledge. .

In its most basic sense, successive approximation is a series of rewards that provide positive reinforcement for behavior changes that are successive steps towards the final desired behavior. In other words, this is how you train a dog.

Dr. Anirudh Kumar Satsangi, this is the only information I could find on related to your study. is there anything else? This seems to be little more than a deffinition of terms. “According to Granville Dharmawardena of Colombo University, reincarnation may be defined as the re-embodiment of an immaterial part of a person after a short or long interval after death, in a new body, whence it proceeds to lead a new life in the new body more or less unconscious of its past existences, but containing within itself the “essence” of the results of its past lives. In the seventeenth century, Rene Descartes divided everything in the universe into two realms – “Res Extensa” (matter) and “Res Cogitans” (mind). It is significant to note that Einstein’s discovery fall entirely within the framework of Res Cogitans as it did not involve any experiments or measurements. Lisa Miller, the Religion Editor of Newsweek observes that Americans are becoming more like Hindus in their approach to reincarnation. Buddhism talks about past lives as the evolvement of consciousness and the emergence of a new personality from the same stream of consciousness. Islam and Christianity do not subscribe to the Hindu notion of reincarnation, but they are not opposed to reincarnation either. This paper draws on my own understanding of reincarnation, based on personal experience and the teachings of His Holiness Maharaj Sahab, the third Spiritual Head of the Radhasoami Faith, and attempts to create scientific awareness about reincarnation amongst all so that a sense of religious harmony can be achieved.”

I noticed that Associate Professor of Psychiatry Jim B. Tucker is completely absent from this conversation. This stimulates my curiosity. He published his studies then went quiet. Don’t his students deserve to see him defend his claims against the criticisms of mainstream academia?

You are right Edward. Such cases of mummified bodies are not entitled to be be studied under the Science of Reincarnation. When a person is dead and his’her body after last rites are cremated/buried as per tradition of the community then the chance of rebirth or reincarnation arises. In mummified bodies too, according to our belief there is no soul. Soul leaves the body and such a person may also take rebirth even if the body is mummified.
Edward Fegredo on 08/11/2016
In my submissions dated 15 March 2016, 12 April 2016 and 15 May 2016, I suggested that when a man, in good faith, exhibits memories of a carefully corroborated past life, he is not recalling a life that HE HIMSELF has lived in the past but is merely “playing back” excerpts from a Perfect Life Record of someone else that he “inherited” on his conception.
I have recently read about an “incorrupt, mummified 200 year Tibetan Monk” whose followers believe that he is not dead but is in a deep meditative state called tukdam. It seems that about 40 such incorrupt, mummified bodies are known to exist in Tibet and Mongolia.
If his followers’ explanation for this phenomenon is correct, and entering into a deep meditative state can result in such an extraordinary physical result, then I feel vindicated in the views I have expressed above.

Dear Anirudh,
All of Science is a subset of Creation Science? Really? Let’s take a look at Creation Science. Where is testability, confirmation, predictability and falsifiability? A scientific theory must provide more than just after-the-fact explanations of things that one already knows. One must push out into the frontiers of new knowledge, trying to predict new facts, and risking the theory against the discovery of possible falsifying information. One cannot simply work at a secondary level, constantly protecting one’s views against threat: forever inventing ad hoc hypotheses to save one’s core assumptions.
Creation scientists do little or nothing by way of genuine test. Indeed, the most striking thing about the whole body of Creation-Science literature is the virtual absence of any experimental or observational work by Creation Scientists. Do you propose that Astrology be granted equal time with Astronomy, that Pyramid Power be matched with modern Physics, that Divining Rod Technology be taken seriously for the benefit Geologists and Hydraulic Engineers, or that flat earth theory get equal mention with the space program? Anirudh, I hope not!

How can we confirm the Revelation about previous birth to be true. After all only a very small number of cases come to limelight. Why is it that whenever someone discovers their past life, it’s always someone prestigious or someone who has accomplished something significant? Why is it never some shameful criminal or a person with downs syndrome or some kid who died from Tuberculosis during the Industrial Revolution, having accomplished nothing but being a child who was dearly loved by his family? Why is the past life someone from the recent past? Why is it never someone who lived in the same valley as a tribe of Neandertal? Think of how wonderful that would be to get new insight from our distant relatives! I am embarrassed for UVA psychiatrist Jim Tucker and for the University of Virginia School of Medicine. If Professor Tucker had applied this effort to support the psychological phenomenon known as False Memory, he would not have needed to butcher the science of Quantum Physics to support his faith. Quantum Physics explains reincarnation just like it explains Cold Fusion and Holodynamics. “If you can’t dazzle someone with brilliance then baffle them with bullshit.”

These days There is lot of curiosity, research and acceptance of the phenomena of reincarnation (rebirth). Virginia University has done a very deep research on this subject and hundredsd of cases of empirical evidence are proved. There is lot of research as regards human consciousness and where it goes after death has still to be discovered. Actually, we humans are having Three Bodies - 1.physical body made of flesh 2. subtle/astral body made of atoms (spirit) 3. causal body made of still finer atoms and sub atomic particles called Soul. After death these two other bodies go in the ether to their respective places as per their Karma (universal law of action-cause-effect) and stay in the astral and causal worlds for a particular period, called Bardo stage in Tibetan Buddism. Thus, to fulfill the unfullfilled desires and ambitions, the spirit and soul keep coming to the Earth plane, and thus reincarnates on this ever trouble-some earth. The Lifeforce enters the body of the still born Child through the pons-varoli which is in the brain, near the medulla oblangata. This is what I want to put the process behind the process of birth, rebirth etc., and the interested readers may write to my e-mail - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) //rudrappa agadi//

Thanks Edwards for your comments of 15th instant which is based on your intuition. For me this is very much scientific thought on reincarnation. I have also got experience about my previous birth in a condition similar to deep meditative state
Edward Fegredo on 05/15/2016
Please refer to my comments dated 15 March 2016 and 14 April 2016.
I have been thinking; for thousands of years meditation and reincarnation have been part of the religious culture of Hindus and Buddhists. Can it be that the concept of reincarnation stems from the practice of meditation?
It is well known that Hindu and Buddhist monks, after years of dedicated practice, are able to perform extraordinary feats of meditation. Can it be that in the dim and distant past, on various occasions, monks attained extraordinarily deep meditative states and unwittingly “tuned into” Life Records” the frequencies of which were in resonance with their own natural brain frequencies and began to recall/describe situations and events which reliable witnesses recognised as being undeniably associated with individuals long since dead? In the absence of any other explanation and in good faith, the belief spread that those monks had lived before, had died and had been reincarnated.
My view is unscientific; I have no means of proving it. I shall be interested to hear other persons’ thoughts about my view.
I am still unable to explain the birthmarks and scars on some of the children who have been tested.

Yes, of course, Rudrappa. I agree with you. I also knwo about my previous birth. I was a Spiritual Guru in my previous birth. I have to leave the world early and I have some un finished task in that birth which I am trying to accomplish in this life.
Carl Schroeder on 04/29/2016
Adult experiences of reincarnation are unbelievably powerful and compelling, full of life-changing insights along with historical details, however I perfectly understand that child cases are more convincing to skeptics and thus a fruitful base for research. I myself started having past lives come to me at the age of 34, but there is no way I can completely prove that I wasn’t previously exposed to the information that means so much more to me than any history lesson. At best, I have extremely novel theories on civilization, such as why certain unconnected individuals seem connected by same interests, habits, and talents (they were the same soul). But for the experiencer, there is no doubt. The point is not just an ego trip into we could have been in another time and place, but solid understandings of what we come to do again and again. Children’s memories are curious bursts that don’t last, adult memories continue to enrich and influence a life going forward, but only when that life is ready for the expanded view. Someday all people will embrace reincarnation as the way to feel, know, and achieve more in one life than one life can contain, for the unlimited human potential.
rudrappa agadi on 04/29/2016
I have some books written by great Hindu Yogis like Sri.Paramahansa Yogananda and doctors like Ian Stevenson, one expert in spirituality and the other in psychiatry and science. With these readings, we some how come to the conclusion that man reincarnates on this earth plane again, until his ambitions, hopes, desires are fulfilled and when he thinks that he need not want any future life, then only he will get emancipation. Science also still to identify some of the atoms and sub particles in the Universe like Life-trons (atoms of Life force), etc., which are responsible for reincarnation. In Hinduism in many holy scriptures, this phenomena of rebirth is mentioned esp.,in Baghvad-gita, Bhagavat etc.,etc.,The rest is left to the readers.//rudrappa agadi//

Hinduism has been around for thousands of years and Buddhism, for several centuries. Both set great store by meditation and both believe in reincarnation. Is there a connection?
Carl Schroeder on 04/10/2016
Thanks for this article. I believe the hallmark of a true scientist is willingness to investigate unexplained yet highly corroborated phenomena. Indeed I can’t imagine why any pursuer of truth would not be excited at the prospect of new discoveries. Of course the field of reincarnation research is in its infancy, and theories to explain anything are little more than pseudoscience likely to invoke ever-popular quantum jargon. But the skeptics are hard pressed to find alternative explanations for the best candidate cases. Remember Occam’s razor, and be willing to not know all the answers. Just because something doesn’t seem testable or even rational today doesn’t mean it won’t be tomorrow, nor that it wasn’t always a vital part of our human lives which have always defied full explanation.
Vinny Ainley on 04/03/2016
I like it if, just for once I could read about someone’s serious attempt at a scientific/forensic examination of the subject of reincarnation. Being appalled at one another’s standpoint is understandable when the article includes a muchly misinterpreted understanding of quantum theory. Collecting anecdotes about the subject does not equate to serious study.
Anirudh Kumar Satsangi on 03/21/2016
I appreciate comments of Edwards of 15th instant. I would like to add more. Egg and Sperm. are made up of Carbon, Nitrigen, Hydrogen etc which are taken from Earth where our physical remains are in the process of recycling. These elements are the storehouse of memories of our past lives. Some of them may manifest in the child after he/she takes birth. So these memories are specific to the child and not the Life Record of Parents.
Edward Fegredo on 03/21/2016
James, I have not read the comments made by my predecessors because I did not wish them to influence my views. Many of my friends fervently believe in reincarnation because it fills a deep void in their lives - so be it. I shy away from “spirit possession”. I am blessed to know many people who measure their riches and rewards in life by the good they do for people less fortunate than themselves.
James S on 03/19/2016
@Edward I’m not even going to cover the sceptics’ ridiculous comments here because they’re so far out I can’t think of anything I can write. People like Dr. Tucker do what sceptics ask, provide evidence, and they still moan. It’s extremely obvious they simply don’t want to believe they may be wrong, probably due to cognitive dissonance and cathexis.
I’m still up in the air about reincarnation. However, if it occurs I don’t think it’s a linear process. I think someone like professor Michael Whiteman is more likely to be right over someone like Ian Stevenson. Professor John Poynton is using some of Whiteman’s research in his new book (which I don’t believe is out yet).
However, I’m still sceptical of reincarnation; partly for reasons you’ve brought up. I’ve always figured the universe acts like a giant analogue computer that records everything we do (like you wrote). I think these past live recalls ate more likely spirit influence and possession though. Some of these alleged past lives overlapped each. On other occasions the a person claimed to be two different people who were alive during the same time period. Spirit possession would explain the birthmarks and health defects better too.
Spirit communication coming from pro reincarnation sources drastically contradicts each other too, making me even more weary of them. Philosophically reincarnation does not make sense to me neither. I have not seen any evidence it’s made the world a better place. I also find it to be a bit uncanny that decent people are usually stuck in roles of little influence or power. It’s always those with bad intentions who seem to get the better roles in life. When there’s an exception, they usually get assassinated or die via other means before they get the chance to do anything meaningful. If reincarnation is a fact, it doesn’t appear to be carried out in a fair manner to me.
Edward Fegredo on 03/15/2016
When we die, our physical, tangible remains get recycled. What happens to our lifetime of non-physical intangible thoughts, memories, experiences, knowledge gained, wisdom acquired, etc which some luminaries think are stored in the physical structure of the brain? Mother Nature is super efficient and wastes nothing. I believe that when we die a Life Record - in each person’s unique brain frequency - of everything we have experienced from the instant of conception to the instant of death comes into being and survives for all eternity, in instant-of-death order in an endless queue, for the benefit of all who come after us. In this way, no experience of any person is ever lost or wasted. When a human egg is fertilised, cortical reaction ensures that only one sperm fertilises the egg. All the Life Records in the “queue” at that precise instant become theoretically available to that baby for his survival and development. However, since the genes of his biological mother and father are not perfect, some ranges of Life Records will be blocked off and will not be available to him. Also, while his mother is carrying him to term, she may consume food and drink and other substances which are “harmful”. There may be occasions when she may indulge in negative emotions of anger, hatred, revenge, lust, envy, pride, etc which effectively block off more ranges of Life Records. The result is that he “inherits” a unique combination of Life Records for his survival and development that collectively determine his personality, character, interests, abilities, resistance or susceptibility to disease, level of intelligence, etc. Of course, the baby will have his own unique brain frequency. If the baby’s unique brain frequency is in resonant frequency with that of one of the Life Records that he has “inherited” then when he grows into childhood and exhibits actual memories of a carefully corroborated previous life, he is not recalling a life that He has lived in the past but merely “playing back” excerpts from that particular person’s Life Record that he has “inherited”. Life Records can plausibly explain a very huge array of disparate phenomena in the natural world.
Heaventruth on 02/14/2016
How do we remove evil (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our mind? In the Book of Prophecy (Fudesaki), it is said to be a difficult process.
This mind, prepare to clear it quickly.
Purify it by using a filter and sand. 3-10
This filter, what do you think it is.
The heart (soul) and the mouth are the sand and filter. 3-11
The identification and the location of the soul are not possible by our science of today. Yet in many of our sacred books, the heart or soul is said to be present in every human being; and serves to connect us with God. Some believe that heart or soul is considered to be composed of positive energy. The heart or soul is said to help us eliminate evil thoughts (greed, arrogance, and self love) from our minds. The soul attracts the negative energies created by our negative thoughts and releases these negative energies from our bodies. This analogy is similar to the sand that is used to attract the waste in our sewage system, extracting the water for recycling.
The evil thoughts created by our minds can be acted on, or can be resisted by our free will. In both scenarios, the negative energy of the evil thought will be attracted and absorbed by the soul. But if our evil thoughts are acted upon, the neural pathway of the creation of negative thoughts becomes easier. This will result in more negative thoughts when an appropriate stimulus appears, resulting in our souls covered with negative energy. If our minds resist taking action on these negative thoughts, the pathway become weaker. This will result eventually in the elimination of our minds creating negative thoughts, resulting in a pure mind.
The soul or heart can then be said to have a record of how we have used our minds. Like the DNA of our genes, these negative energies (dusts) have the information to affect our future. These dusts (negative energy) can be released from the soul into our bodies internally, creating illness like cancer, or they can be released externally, converting to other forms of energy; and eventually causing suffering (stimuli) in the form of accidents or even retribution from others. This boomerang suffering (stimuli), have the potential to create more negative thoughts. If we again act on these thoughts, the neural pathway to create these negative thoughts becomes easier. But if we continue to act positively upon the sufferings (stimuli) by using our free will, we have the potential of eventually eliminating these negative thoughts from our minds. By this process, the mind will eventually stop producing evil thoughts, and the soul will have eventually released all of the negative energy, resulting in the pure heart of the origin.
What happens to the soul when our physical bodies stop functioning (death)? Some believe that purification of the mind may take many life times (reincarnation). Our soul with its negative energies rises to heaven and eventually returns to continue the process of the purification of the mind. This process of purification is difficult because suffering and misfortune continue to occur even though we believe we have changed. Many of us want immediate gratification and forgiveness from God when we begin to believe; but what we sow we reap. This is why this is a long path of persistence to sweep away the evil in our minds, especially for those who have accumulated much negative energy on their souls.
James S on 02/09/2016
I should also add I support research like Dr. Tucker’s, but for other reasons than trying to prove reincarnation. ‘Reincarnation’ evidence is strong evidence for trying to prove something far more important, that the mind is not a brain function, and the entangled nature of consciousness in regards to access to information.
The fact is it’s already difficult enough as it is to even get anything deemed as ‘paranormal’ to be taken in a serious light within the mainstream scientific community. Accepting such phenomena would mean that most branches of natural science would have drastic paradigm changes.
We don’t learn algebra without learning arithmetic first. Claiming it’s reincarnation is jumping the gun when we can’t even get telepathy to be taken seriously. Let’s try to use research such as this to prove the mind may not be a brain function, not to prove reincarnation. The former is the only real foundation for putting together a hypothesis to support how a mind can survive physical death. Without putting together a viable hypothesis such anomalous phenomena will never be accepted by science.
Why create religions out of what’s supposed to be unbiased, secular-based research? Many people within the psi camp ate their own worst enemies, and simply strengthens sceptical arguments. People such as Victor Zammit and Kevin Williams have quality material on their websites, but then hinder this by creating their own New Age-based religions.
James S on 02/09/2016
Heaventruth, I think there’s a slippery slope when people attempt to use physical laws to try to prove ‘spiritual’ laws. The law of attraction is a good example of this: like attracts likes. However, physical laws are quite different because opposites attract. We see this with electrical induction, electrical current flow, magnetism, etc.
Why is cause and effect any different? Reincarnation also violates minimal energy principles. The minimal energy principle is why bubbles form spheres for example. Reincarnation violates the latter due to its one-to-many concept. In fact this explains why multiple spirits can possess one physical being, but not the other way around. Dr. Carl Wickland wrote an entire book about this when his medium wife was able to help many spirits possessing bodies leave and move on.
To get around this New Agers try to explain reincarnation as being nonlinear, or facets of a greater entity. If this is so then the reincarnationist has even more explaining to do. Ian Stevenson see reincarnation as being linear while other reincarnation researchers didn’t.
Concerning evil, good, misery and joy I find even more problems with reincarnation. How can problems be solved when we deny they even exist? Teachings such as those from Michael deny evil even exists, and that all is just ‘lessons’ and ‘mistakes’. If we deny evil exists then how can we learn to be good when it’s not relative to anything? Further more, if we have mutual agreements to perpetuate criminal acts against others then why have lower astral realms at all then, or higher ones? This would be the ultimate version of hypocrisy to blame spirits for their negative actions. You can also deny there’s a hell at all, but then you’re also taking away the credibility of the most reliable research concerning the afterlife that states the opposite.
There’s more problems too. Kardec’s spirits claim the above is false, and that criminal behavior is never predetermined. These spirits also have drastically different ideas of what ‘self’ really is.
The fact is there are many truths out there, and I could state the New Age camp also resorts to the confirmation bias. Victim blaming and trying to use the ‘we create our own reality’ mantra is extremely dangerous. This simply leads to finger pointing while trying to justify our own joys while ridiculing others less fortunate. I had always figured victim blaming is a coping mechanism to allow those using it to feel better about themselves. Objective reality does exist, and outside factors really do affect us irrespective of our thoughts.

Its always easy to say that there is no proof for causality, or reincarnation. Are there spirits, or souls that we can prove by science which the previous commentator talks about. Unless we can can identify and tag the soul or conscious, we can not scientifically say that the soul reincarnates, or prove causality. We know that suffering and joy both exist. We also know there good and evil actions that occur every day. Can there be a relationship. Does our actions of today portend our future (causality)? We know two out of the three facts that we need to prove the law of causality. The connection between these two facts may be impossible to prove, leaving faith as a temporary glue that holds these facts together. Reincarnation and causality explains why we suffer or have joy; it also gives us hope in having a joyous future. We make our own future.

Speaking as someone who’s very open to the possibility of an afterlife, I’m rather surprised by the lack of critical thinking by those using the god-of-the-gaps to proclaim reincarnation is a ‘proven’ scientific fact. Firstly, neither quantum mechanics nor the Copenhagen Interpretation supports the notion we create our own reality. The latter refers to measuring effects. How many people subscribing to New Age thought understand how mathematically complex quantum theory really is?
I would also have to ask how many reincarnationists truly research spiritual matters in an unbiased manner? Anyone who’s done any serious research on Spiritualism should know full well how spirits, both good and evil, always influence our thoughts. It’s the equilibrium that allows us free will. It can be very easy to share the memories of another living or etheric human’s lives. The fact that in some of these cases the alleged past life recall involved people who were still alive should raise red flags about the reincarnation hypothesis.
Very young children are especially vulnerable to spiritual influence. Emmanuel Swedenborg’s Heaven and Hell goes into painstaken detail why many people mistake the interactive nature of consciousness and stored information to be past lives. In fact the angels Swedenborg communicated with never done so from their own memories, because doing so would mean Swedenborg would mistake the angel’s thoughts as his own.
Birthmarks are another iffy issue. There are several types of paranormal phenomena that can produce birthmarks such as spirit possession, maternal impression, hypnotic influence, etc. Is there any hypothesis that demonstrates how past lives can produce birthmarks anymore than the other phenomena I’d mentioned?
In a large amount of these cases where children were able to recall certain events the culture they lived in appeared to be a major influence. Many times bias plays a role too, as was demonstrated with the Leininger case. Spirit communication is unreliable because not only do they tend to contradict each other concerning whether reincarnation is a fact, but even those teaching reincarnation seem to contradict each other concerning major issues. The Michael teachings vs Kardec’s Spirits’ book is a great example of this. There’s far more consistency coming from spirits that don’t teach reincarnation.
I could be wrong myself, but the confirmation bias is fueled by both cognitive dissonance and information cascades. The latter holds true for all beliefs. Many people want to believe they’re saved by mere belief alone, others can’t phantom the thought of never returning to the familiarity of earth life while others are not comfortable with anything deemed as mystical. I could be wrong myself, but proper research requires looking at everything.

Some people ar appalled by this research. At the same time, I’m sure that many of these are devote christians. In what way does christianity make more sense than reincarnation? About half of the worlds population believe in reincarnation….that’s more than who believe Jesus was/is a son of God. Of course reincarnation has to be a subject for scientific research!

Many of the commenters don’t seem to understand the difference between “not yet having a mechanism/explanation for findings from well-conducted scientific investigations” (e.g., the need to postulate “dark energy”) and “not having a mechanism/explanation for anecdotal reports” (e.g., someone claiming to have a ‘previous life’). Science, by definition, assumes that there are “natural explanations” (meaning, based on the material, observable universe and its underlying laws, some of which remains to be discovered and understood); it does NOT claim absolute certainly, complete understanding, perfect precision etc. Science knowledge expands often slowly, dependent upon replication of results, independent verification. And, a key part of good (real) science is “falsifiability” - that is, ideas are testable (google “rabbits in the pre-Cambrian” for a good example). Pseudo-science props itself up on anecdotal evidence, “special pleading” when results aren’t replicated, and by “argument from ignorance’ (e.g., you can’t explain this, therefore, my explanation must be correct).
My points with regard to this discussion of research into reincarnation are this: Good science is not “afraid of” any particular field of study: good studies will either uncover new understanding of the universe, or they will document a “dead end”. What I find missing from this discussion is a description of well-designed, scientific studies that will help to either prove or disprove hypotheses in this area. I see good intentions, and interesting, radical ideas, but I am not seeing any good science being proposed.

Scientists have idea or description of Dark Energy or Dark Matter which makes up most of the Universe’s energy and matter. They only know it by it’s effects on the Universe we can detect with our instruments. To scoff at and discount something we cannot prove in this branch of psychiatry and reproduce in a lab seems the height of hypocrisy when comparing it to physics which can’t explain dark energy and matter. I believe the universe is a lot stranger (including strange particles!) than we can imagine. The idea that someone can look at a clock in the middle of a town square and imagine riding a light beam and seeing the clock speed up and come up with relativity (Einstein) tend to put me with the imaginers and not just the cogs in the scientific community. Nothing wrong with investigating and questioning everything about reality seen and unseen even if a blind path.

This article makes a profoundly false claim. The “double-slit experiment” is incorrectly described. There is no such experiment that demonstrates the phenomenon of light being recorded differently onto photographic media depending on whether or not a person is watching the experiment. The way the experiment is described in this article does not produce the claimed results.
This reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of the quantum science arguments used to support this article’s hypothesis. In the experiment as described by this article, the photographic plate is the observer. To record information onto a photographic plate, photons must be absorbed, and thus they cannot continue traveling through space-time as photons. That is the phenomenon responsible for the underlying principle. It is the same phenomenon that allows our eyes to observe things. Observing the experiment in a normal way—say, five feet away from the laser—has no impact on the results because you are not directly observing the photons that are passing through the slits. You are observing the photons after they have passed through the slits, and you are observing photons emitted by the laser that never pass through the slits. In order to observe the photons as they pass through the slits, you would have to place your eye against the slits and fire the laser beam directly into your ocular nerve. Then you would be observing the light used in the experiment, and, of course, it certainly would change the outcome.
To put it another way, if a photon is absorbed, it is no longer light. That’s all the “observer effect” is. It’s just the obvious statement that if measuring a particle or wave requires the particle or wave to be absorbed or changed, the act of measurement will obviously affect the particle’s / wave’s state. A common misunderstanding is that people believe they are seeing and absorbing the photons that are traveling through the slits, which is impossible, because the laser beam isn’t traveling toward your eye—those photons are only traveling in the direction of the laser beam.

Well technically I’m a Hindu. And did you ever consider that our belief in reincarnation may not have a religious origin? And how do you know that our perceptions of the world are correct?
Heaventruth on 09/07/2015
I believe it is difficult to believe in reincarnation because people believe that their sacred books are fact. How can we reason with science to those who have faith in their bibles?
ashish sharma on 09/07/2015
This research is correct.I have seens such cases myself.

And why do we have to apply science to everything? Science doesn’t explain terminal lucidity or where the universe came from.
Going by the first law of thermodynamics, energy can neither be created nor be destroyed. So where did the matter in the universe come from? Or how did lifeless chemicals form complex RNA and then DNA, and why only here?? Why isn’t there life on Exoplanets, when by scientific theory it shouldn’t be such a rare phenomenon? If there are same conditions on other planets like we have on Earth, then life should have flourished elsewhere in our galaxy. We haven’t found evidence of life on any other planet but our own have we?
I’m a science student myself. I know how the laws work , but the question is can scientific laws and logic be applied to all situations? Maybe you should keep that in mind before applying to all situations. Maybe there isn’t a logical explanation for what these kids are telling.
Mikara on 09/03/2015
Why would you say that it’s pseudoscience?? Not everyone in this world is money minded and not everyone lies. Do you say it’s pseudoscience simply because it defies all logic( That is it goes against what you’ve been taught or told to believe since birth) and shakes your small yet comfortable world?
I myself don’t know what to believe. The statistics are way too high for it to be completely false. I think that the best thing to do is to keep an open mind and to accept new things. There’s a lot about the universe that we don’t truly understand because our perceptions are so narrow minded.
