March E-newsletter Contest: Who Am I?

My mother ran a boarding house on Wertland Street but I became one of the 20th-century’s most famous artists. I took a summer art class at the University with Professor Alan Bement in 1915 before becoming an instructor myself. I painted abstract images inspired by Charlottesville and Grounds but I would be best known for my depictions of the American South West.
I am Georgia O’Keeffe.
Congratulations to Nancy Grace (Col ’81), whose name was chosen at random from the 471 readers who correctly identified this photo in our March 2010 e-newsletter. She wins a $25 UVA Bookstore gift certificate.
