Elijah Berlin Witt (Engr class of ’26) of Crozet, Virginia, passed away May 15, 2024. He had recently completed his second year at UVA, where he was pursuing his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering. He was a Jefferson Scholar and a Rodman Scholar as well as a resident adviser. He’d recently been selected as a UVA summer orientation leader. He worked as an engineering teaching assistant and a mathematics instructor at the M-Cubed Summer Math Academy facilitated by the 100 Black Men of Central Virginia. In addition to his passion for engineering, he also loved astronomy and could often be found peering up at the night sky with his high-powered telescopes. He was known for his eagerness to both teach and learn. Survivors include his parents, Andrea and Howard; two siblings; four grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
