Andrew William Ern (Col ’19, Educ ’20 CM) of Charlottesville died Oct. 6, 2024. He earned his bachelor’s degree in government and a master’s degree in higher education from UVA. He was a resident adviser, an orientation leader, a member of the coed cheerleading team, a fellow in the Meriwether Lewis Institute for Citizen Leadership, a resident of 27 West Range in the Academical Village and a student-athlete mentor in the office of Athletics Academic Affairs. In 2020 he joined EAB Global in Washington, D.C., working with colleges and universities on enrollment strategies and solutions. As an associate director of partner development, he was moving into a senior strategic leadership role at the firm in late 2024. Friends and family considered him a walking encyclopedia about UVA athletics past and present. He loved fitness activities, including gym workouts, tennis and golf. He always sought to find a connection with or elicit a laugh from people he encountered every day. Survivors include his parents, Shelby and David Ern (Com ’86 CM); his brother, Alex Ern (Col ’17 CM); sister-in-law Hayden Ern (Darden class of ’25); three grandparents; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
