Christopher Lee Florentine (Engr ’03 CM) of Chantilly, Virginia, died Sept. 17, 2021. His pursuit of excellence led him to leave home in Massachusetts to attend UVA, where he met his future wife and discovered a passion for problem-solving. In his career, he was an exemplary leader and engineer, ushering in critical solutions for our nation’s security through strong relationships and cutting-edge technology. To those closest to him, he was a proud father, faithful friend and a silly storyteller. Mr. Florentine recharged by spending time outdoors on the water or in the mountains and having adventures in new places. His favorite times were with his family and friends, whether it was doing something a little dangerous in the backyard, being fouled on the basketball court or going on a long walk in some fun European city. Mr. Florentine was a quiet yet strong and steady spirit, a true inspiration to all those he leaves behind. Survivors include his wife, Mariam Lee Florentine (Engr ’03 CM), and two daughters.
