Lisa Meredith Cowles (Col ’05 CM) of San Francisco died Jan. 17, 2024. While at UVA, she took multiple student trips to Europe and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. Her adventurous spirit also took her on many study-abroad trips to destinations such as Argentina and Nicaragua. After graduation and brief relocations to both San Francisco and New York, she decided to pursue her true passion of teaching and went back to school to earn her master’s degree in education. She taught elementary school in San Francisco for 12 years, with a family-focused and naturally empathetic approach to the classroom, working with students of diverse and sometimes disadvantaged backgrounds. Outside of teaching, her interests included art, dance, hiking, skiing and city marathons. Survivors include her parents; a brother; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
