Eric Douglas Rigsbee (Engr ’01) of Annandale, Virginia, died Sept. 11, 2021. While studying civil engineering at UVA, he was a member of the Jefferson Literary and Debating Society. After graduation, he earned his professional engineer license and began his engineering career. In 2010, he opened a Washington, D.C., office of the construction consulting firm Construction Insight DC, LLC, and served as its president. In 2019, he and his team turned their branch into an independent company, broadening their client base and expanding their services. As a third-year at UVA, he started a DJ business that he continued after graduation. He loved working out at his local CrossFit gym. He was predeceased by his infant daughter. Survivors include his fiancé, Emily, his parents, two daughters, a sister, two nieces and a nephew.


John Vance Barr (Arch ’03) of The Plains, Virginia, died Nov. 12, 2021. During his time at UVA, he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi and Alpha Phi Omega fraternities. He was also a two-time dean’s list recipient. After graduating, he worked for several architecture firms in Northern Virginia before starting his own firm, JV Barr Design. Outside of work, he often volunteered with Grace Episcopal Church, where he was an active participant in the laity. Survivors include his mother, twin sister, a nephew and a niece.
