Catherine Elizabeth Nicholas (Com ’01 L/M) of Arlington, Va., died May 3, 2013. At the University, she volunteered with Madison House and was a member of the club gymnastics team and the Hellenic Society. She was a manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers and a recognized expert in the field of cyber security, leading teams that supported cyber security services to the FBI, Social Security Administration, the Department of Defense and the State Department’s Office of Foreign Assistance, among others. Ms. Nicholas served as secretary for the Washington, D.C., chapter of Women in Defense and wrote an article, “Recruiting and Developing the 21st Century Cyber Warrior,” for SC Magazine in 2011. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, listening to music, reading, running and playing golf with her father and brother. An avid Washington Capitals fan, Ms. Nicholas loved playing indoor co-ed floor hockey. Survivors include her parents and a brother, C. Christopher Nicholas (Col ’98).
