Wallace Stockton Lippincott Sr. (Engr ’49 CM) of Baltimore died April 16, 2017. A World War II veteran, he enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and served as an aviation machinist in the Pacific theater, stationed in Fiji, the Solomon Islands and the Philippines as part of the Bougainville campaign. With the benefit of the GI Bill, he attended UVA to study mechanical engineering. After working for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co., he opened a consulting engineering firm in 1960. He designed projects for many schools, including the University of Maryland and St. John’s College, as well as commercial businesses, churches and even the giraffe house at the Maryland Zoo. He also worked to improve zoning in Ocean City, Maryland. Survivors include three children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
