Football tailgates topped the list as the most-mentioned activity. “As alums, my wife and I went to Alumni Hall before the opening home football game when our daughter was a first-year student,” wrote Ron Culberson (Col class of ’83), who also remembered playing with the pep band after football games as a student.

“My wife, who was getting her master’s in education, and I, a fourth-year in the medical school, met in Alumni Hall in 1969 at a mixer. We’ve been married for 55 years and have shown our children and grandchildren the spot where we met.”
—Frederick L. “Rick” Greene (Col class of ’66, Med class of ’70)

“I have two! Last fall, at the fourth-year Oktoberfest, I went with all the graduating members in the Cavalier Marching Band. This spring, I was at the finals study break in Alumni Hall when I received a call from one of the companies I was interviewing with—it was a job offer!”
—Lincoln Trissell (Col class of ’25)

“Halloween 2024 Bingo Night!! My friends and I have been determined to win the Best Group Costume Award since our first year so this time we dressed up as Ambassadors (UVA security officers) and won it.”—Sarah Zeffouni (Col class of ’26)

“As a trustee of the Class of 1989, my first time in Alumni Hall was for our first meeting. Wayne Cozart passed around a fist-sized hunk of marble and said it was a piece of the Rotunda steps that had broken off during the revelry the night before Final Exercises. It was made clear that it was up to us to keep our classmates in line!!” —Susie Bruce (Col class of ’89, Educ class of ’91)

“Luke and Laura! The General Hospital Luke and Laura saga was in full swing from 1980 to ’81, and Alumni Hall was a place to watch if you were between classes.”
—Jo Ellen Friedman Slurzberg (Col class of ’83)
