Holding Steady

Still No. 2 among publics

alt textThis year’s U.S. News & World Report’s rankings of America’s best colleges yielded a familiar outcome for the University. U.Va. remains tied for second—with the University of California, Los Angeles—among all public universities and is tied for 24th among all universities, public and private. Harvard (tied with Princeton) and the University of California, Berkeley, retained their No. 1 rankings as best overall national university and best public university, respectively.

The University has ranked either first or second among publics since 1992 and has ranked among the top 25 nationally since the first rankings came out in 1988.

That’s the top twenty-five ranking we ought to care about—and not about whether we win the ACC in football or have a national ranking in the sport.

Truly a credit to the faculty, administration and staff.  I didn’t fully appreciate the quality of the faculty until I went to graduate school - the drop-off elsewhere was noticeable.

My wife and I have had 2 daughters graduate from UVA!
What a class University, with excellent faculty, libraries, cultural attractions and a cadre of employees all dedicated to making the experience at this school truly meaningful.
Two words:  The Rotunda!  What an awesome sight.
