A list of places that define American history

The landscape of the United States offers a plethora of natural and cultural treasures, but only a handful have the distinction of being named a World Heritage Site. This slideshow offers snapshots of the eight buildings and historical sites in the U.S. that UNESCO deems of “outstanding universal value.” All of the sites are awe-inspiring, but only one is close to home.

    You neglected to mention that Iowa City, Iowa is another cultural landmark in the U.S., listed by UNESCO as a “World Literature City”.
