Lawrence David Priest (Engr ’90 A/M) of Virginia Beach died Dec. 3, 2009. He served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine chief petty officer and a nuclear plant supervisor. Later, he worked as a nuclear engineer at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard for 19 years. He was adjunct faculty for Tidewater Community College, teaching heating, ventilation and air conditioning technologies.

Paul Francis Baker (Law ’91 A/M) of Washington, D.C., died Dec. 26, 2009. For many years, he was vice president and general counsel for America Online. Mr. Baker was also involved in numerous business ventures.

Nancy Jane Hyre Odendhal
(Nurs ’92 A/M) of Johnson City, Tenn., died Oct. 23, 2009. During her career, she was a social worker and nurse. In addition, she taught nursing students and medical students at East Tennessee State University.

Adam Max Cohen (Grad ’99, ’01) of Marion, Mass., died Jan. 2, 2010. At the University, he was a President’s Fellow and a Folger Shakespeare Library Scholar. Mr. Cohen was an English professor at the University of North Florida and the University of South Alabama and most recently at Dartmouth. He published several books, including Shakespeare and Technology: Dramatizing Early Modern Technological Revolutions, Technology and the Early Modern Self and the forthcoming Wonder in Shakespeare. Mr. Cohen climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
