The University welcomed 3,515 first-year students this fall, the largest entering class in school history.

Here’s a snapshot of the Class of 2017, by the numbers:

  • 23 posted perfect scores on the math and verbal portions of the SAT
  • 1,349 points—mean verbal and math scores on a 1,600-point scale
  • 92 percent ranked in the top 10 percent of their high school graduating class
  • 28 percent are minority students
  • 44 states and 72 countries are represented
  • 6 percent of the class is international
  • 56 percent are female
  • Additionally, 675 students will transfer into the undergraduate student body, including 350 from the Virginia Community College System
